Does it work in winter?
The Affordable Solar Energy system was designed for our climate and works all year round, subject to prevailing weather conditions.
What about planning permission?
This is usually considered a permitted development under Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995, and permission is not normally needed. If you live in a conservation area or area of outstanding natural beauty permission may be required depending on the site of the collectors. We will check and always apply on your behalf and our dedicated planning department will look after the whole process.
Can you install on listed buildings?
Yes, we have installed systems on grade 1 and 2 listed buildings. It is important to look for an inconspicuous site.
How much does it cost?
Each system is designed individually and the price will depend on many aspects, such as size of cylinder, number of occupants in a home, number of bath or shower rooms, positioning of collectors and associated pipe runs. That's why we will arrange a no obligation FREE solar survey to assess your needs and work out the cost.

Does it provide electricity?
Our collectors do not provide electricity but do supply up to 70% of your year round hot water needs. Systems such as photovoltaic (PV), which provide electricity, are generally much more costly to install and much less efficient in comparable terms.
Does it provide central heating?
Yes it can. The new Affordable Energy Master is a digital, intelligent central heating boiler management system which works on temperature as well as time, ensuring your boiler works at maximum efficiency.
How long does it last?
There is very little to deteriorate and you could expect a system to be working in 20-25 years time.
Guarantee?
We offer a full parts and labour warranty for 12 months, after which it can be extended at a modest cost.
What if it goes wrong?
Call customer services on 0800 026 6999 Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30 pm. We have service depots at Colchester, Eastleigh, Exeter, Tewkesbury, Chester and Leeds.
What if we move?
If you move home we will move the collectors to your new home, subject to survey, FREE of charge for two years after the contract date. After two years we will make a nominal charge to cover costs.
